My work celebrates found objects. I am of the theatre, formerly a lighting designer/production manager, and spent many years in that field. Embedding lights in three dimensional forms was an early focus. I became increasingly interested in “form” itself.  Along with free-standing sculptures, I have created assemblages, three-D paintings, lighting fixtures, and furniture pieces.

Imagination and play are the most powerful tools. A zipper becomes a small highway, a plastic appetizer fork suggests an eyebrow. In the world of dynamic interplay between unrelated objects with inherently different textures, colors, shapes, and functions, simple addition explodes, ideally resulting in multiple levels of appreciation.  Somehow, it all makes sense.

When everything is allowed, there is no single correct path. I have a treasure trove of woods, metals, plastics, beads, objects of all shapes and sizes. It’s like having the pieces to a gigantic jigsaw puzzle…or perhaps a hundred jigsaw puzzles…with endless possibilities for play.  As Robert Earle Keen sings, “The road goes on forever and the party never ends.”
